After Scotland and England, the third oldest national team is Wales. Their first ever match was against Scotland. As was their second - and their third. They did not meet the mad dribblers until they played England in 1879. Their first win was against England 1-0 in 1881. It was not a good year for English international football.
Scotland is to Wales as England is to Scotland. A much bigger entity with a confirmed tradition of passing and running. However, in the spirit of the culture of the Scotch Professor, the SFA reached out and played Wales at the West of Scotland Cricket Ground in 1876. Only four years after the first ever international - again in Glasgow.
